New Users

For individual users who have never used radioactive materials at the NIH, the minimum requirements for using radioactive material are:

• Register with the DRS for a training course by either:
  • Online form
  • By completing the registration form and faxing it to 301-496-3544
  • Or register over the phone by calling 301-496-2255.
• Submitting a dosimetry request form

Former users of radioactive materials returning to the NIH after more than four years must:

• Successfully complete the Online Refresher course.
• Submit dosimetry request form

Former users of radioactive materials returning to the NIH after less than four years cannot work with radioactive materials until:

• You notify DRS to reactivate you
• Provide DRS with current work information including authorized user, lab location and phone number
• Submit dosimetry request form

Note: No new training is required before you can work with radioactive materials.
